Our Family Dogs

We had two family dogs, do-do and poppi, one was American Eskimo, and the other was Chihuahua and terrier mix. They both just passed away this year, few months apart from each other. Poppi is definately small and more dominate dog of the two. He is always hungry and would eat anything. Before I moved out of my parents, pretty much was me and Conrad taking care of the dogs. It was hard to say goodbye to them, but at the same time the burden is off our shoulders. It's till this past year, everytime I saw them, their health has deteriorated. Poppi starts to loose his eye sights, his overweight body is also not helping. I wasn't there when poppi died, mom didn't really tell me when I was there that day. When I found out about it, I cried. I felt bad that I didn't get to say goodbye. I had not went down to the basement that often because I was pregnant at the time, and my brother is doing the dry walls down there. I didn't like go to down there. Poppi lived at least 7 years I believe. Do-do was way older, 16 to 17 years old. I felt more emotional when my mom told me that Do-do can't move and can't eat for few days. I suggest to put him down, because I can't see him suffer like that. I went there that day, I touched his head, and rubbed his neck to let him know that I was there. His eyesight was slowly going, his hearing was getting worse too. I believe he knew it was me, my tears streamed down my face. I said to him, he has been a good dog all these years, I love him, and I cried and walked away. My mom carried him to the car, and went to the vet. It was hard too see him go, but I believe he is in a better place now.
